Smart Collections (Shopify)

Smart Collections are a Shopify feature that automatically populates collections based on product conditions. You define rules (like 'product type is shoes' AND 'tag is summer') and Shopify automatically includes matching products. Smart Collections support conditions based on product title, type, vendor, tag, price, compare-at price, weight, inventory stock, and variant title. While powerful for basic organization, Smart Collections have limitations: they can't handle variant-level logic (a shoe with only size 14 left still shows), don't consider sales velocity or trend data, and can't coordinate across multiple collections. For stores that need more sophisticated collection management, tools like RankCollections add AI-powered logic on top of Shopify's foundation.
